Welcome to the first Pactoria dev blog! We'll be using these to keep you in the loop on what we're adding to the server, so let's kick things off with something we've been wanting to do for a while now: cosmetic armor and weapon variants.
At a glance
- 48+ new cosmetic looks for armor and weapons
- Every variant comes in gold, iron and diamond ✨
- Unlocked with a stonecutter, no extra materials needed
- Purely cosmetic, built for roleplay and identity
What's been added
- 16 helmet variants
- 6 armor variants
- 15 sword variants
- 11 axe variants
- Spears, lances and shields
All of them come in gold, iron and diamond. ✨
How to use them
Just throw your armor piece or weapon into a stonecutter, and you'll see all the available variants right there. No extra materials needed: it's all purely cosmetic.
Why this matters for roleplay
Honestly, one of the things that's always been a little limiting in vanilla Minecraft is that everyone ends up looking the same. Diamond armor is diamond armor. Iron is iron. There's not much room to make your character feel like it's yours.
With these variants, that changes:
- Your knight can actually look like a knight.
- Your wandering mercenary can have a beat-up look that fits their story.
- Guilds and factions can build a visual identity that people recognize from across the battlefield.
It's a small thing on paper, but in practice it makes a big difference, especially when you're deep in a roleplay arc and the details start to matter.
That's it for Dev Blog #1. More stuff is in the works, and we'll be sharing it as we go.
See you in the next one! 👋
